I once thought when I became an adult life would be easy. Not true. She becomes harder and harder to handle.
When I give advice to myself, I say, “Life is an alligator.” Look at that smile and admire those puppy eyes, but you better respect her. She is tough and hard to handle. Her teeth will take your leg off with one bite, and even a minor bite can lead to serious infection. While she may appear lazy and docile, don’t be mistaken; she is a predator, extremely agile and quick. With improper encouragement she will most certainly become a serious threat to your safety. When on land she won’t flee. She will stand her ground and face off. Familiarize yourself with this creature before entering her environment. If she opens her mouth or hisses, you should back away immediately for she may lunge at you with surprising force and quickness. Never tease or entice her. Her jaws are made of iron and are very powerful. Once in their grip it is nearly impossible to free one’s self. Maintain sobriety. Don’t be reckless in her presence. Be smart at all times. Even her tail is powerful enough to knock you off your feet.
